Pontypridd Launches Course to Support Women Service Users and to Recognise International White Ribbon Day
17 Nov 2008"Violence against women has yet to receive the priority attention and resources needed at all levels to tackle it with the seriousness and visibility necessary." Secretary-General’s in-depth study on
Violence against Women (2006)In 1999, the UN designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and invited governments, international organizations and NGOs to organize activities designated to raise public awareness of the problem on that day. Women's activists have marked 25 November as a day against violence since 1981.
To mark this international event, Pontypridd Women's Aid will be launching a new course specifically aimed at the women service users whom they support, and to mark the importance of this international event.
The course aims to:
- Look at ways to communicate more effectively; and
- Show confidence when dealing with others and stressful situations
