International Day to End Violence Against Women & White Ribbon Day Events
24 Oct 2008The 25th November 2008 is International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women/White Ribbon Day, which marks the start of 16 days of worldwide campaigning against gender based violence.
There are a number of regional, and international events taking place and Welsh Women's Aid would like to know what you will be doing to mark the event. Please contact Kirstie Pavey if you would like your event to be advertised on the WWA website.
There are various websites that you can access to download or order resources and publicity materials.
- Amnesty International have various free resources that you can order directly.
- WOMANKIND also provide a toolkit with various downloadable resources, including a TV advert illustrating that 1 in 4 women will be a victim of domestic abuse in her lifetime.
- The White Ribbon Day and White Ribbon Campaign websites also have various resources and factsheets that you can use in schools and other local events to challenge attitudes about domestic abuse.
- You can also visit the Centre for Women's Global Leadership to find out about international events taking place, as well as being able to download a TAKE ACTION toolkit.
One event that we have already been told about is the Wales Women's National Coalition (Women's Voice) Light a Candle Service.

- Speakers for the event will be Jan Pickles OBE (Cardiff Women's Safety Unit) and Morgan Fackrell (Chief Executive, Cardiff Women's Aid).
